Hello 2012!
I started writing a review of the year, but I’ve had such a nice 2011 I thought it sounded like I was crowing a bit. I find the sanitised approach to these kind of things a bit fake, and friggity-fuck do I hate false people, so I hit delete. Plus, I feel like I need to balance my nice year against the fact that an awful lot of people I know had a total bitch of a year. Whilst kind to me, ultimately, 2011 was, I think, a very cruel year.
That said, 2009 was my bitch - starting on my 30th birthday i was depressed for the whole year and then at Christmas everything* crashed and burned. 2010 inevitably became a year of rebuilding and recovery; I approached the whole thing like it was an amazing opportunity to get to grips with everything in my life I hated. I worked hard to change and build a better life, and the dark clouds went away. 2011 was a year spent reaping the benefits of my efforts whilst continuing to make long-term investments in my own wellbeing and quality of life. Basically, I totally deserved a cracker of a year.
So, here i am. Facing 2012 feeling happier, healthier and more confident than I ever thought possible, looking forward to whatever the year has in store.
Huge thanks to those of you who were involved in my making my 2011 - you’re all wonderful, and I’m lucky to be surrounded by such amazing people. Finally, best wishes for a joyous 2012 - let’s make it so, together x x x
