If you’re wondering about the radio silence here at Dalton Towers (of *course* you are…), it’s mainly because I’m still busy with outside jobs.
Last week (is it only last week? It *feels* longer) the greenhouse finally went.
Despite wanting rid of it desperately, I hadn’t dared hope it would actually go this summer, especially seeing as previously there’s been much promise of it going and yet… If you remember the little list of exterior jobs* posted a while back, you’ll know the Greenhouse Job was conspicuous by its absence.
It’s funny. It all happened very suddenly in the end. A teacher caught wind of my wanting shot of it via Twitter, and within 3 days it was gone to start a new life at Cantonian High. 5 years of waiting were over in a flash.
So now there’s lots of work to sort out the space. Up to this point, I’ve not invested a huge amount of effort in the garden because of the greenhouse issue. Now there’s no excuses.
It’s both exciting and daunting to be starting a garden from scratch. Decorating is easy by comparison! I’m really enjoying getting stuck in, but have already given up on the idea that there’s any kind of design in the approach to my planting - as i’ve dug up the old beds i’ve found and re-planted a ton of mystery bulbs…
So, it’s a surprise garden around the corner for me this spring! It’s certainly something to look forward to.

* Oh, and for the record, I am so awesome that I did all the jobs save restoring the stonework around the window and doorframe. The greenhouse win more than compensates for not having managed this job yet.
