A number of interior design blogs are hailing copper as a ‘hot’ new trend right now… But here at Dalton Towers it’s an old trend that needs a good dust and polish!
I agonised over my light fittings when I moved here. I’d inherited a bunch of horrible old-people triple-armed brass monstrosities, and eventually found some beautiful round copper lampshades to replace them. I’ve taken more of an interest in copper since then, to make the most of the accent, and I’ve totally fallen in love with the touch of opulence it lends to a room. I’m an especially big fan of dark wood and copper together…
I’m pleased to find I’m not alone with my fondness for what is a very handy metal. Not just a pretty face, copper is a hard-working metal, which has probably got a lot to do with my fondness for it - style and substance together! Copper pipes carry our water, it’s a brilliant conductor of electricity, it’s one of the vital minerals present in the human body, and it’s even added to fungicides and nutritional supplements. Copper is a very clever metal, and I think we should celebrate it more!
So, for interest’s sake, is a lovely picture post by someone else going nuts for copper right now - lovely, lovely things there, including an amazing copper-topped vanity she did.

This little scene feels like it has been stolen from out of my head!
Nothing more fitting for Apple products than to be clothed by Orla, in my view. My Orla MacBook cover was one of the best things i spent money on last year - no contest.

“Recent furniture and product design graduate Edward Taylor studied the way in which people store their clothing and created The Show-off. The Show-off is a clothing storage unit that features an attached tree-like stand to hold garments and accessories that you might want to show off and a closed storage area for the less preferred items. The piece is made from oak, walnut, laminate and ply, and would provide great storage in the bedroom or by the front door.” (via Design Milk: Modern Design)

How to Make a Needle Felted Terrarium
John Farrier, neatorama.comUntil about two years ago, I had never even heard of needle felting. But now I’ve seen some amazing demonstrations of the craft, including household appliances, a comic book cover, and Jabba the Hutt. There’s an amazing world of fabric…
Cute, in a jar.
Though my lovely bunny drainer is missing…!
You may remember I posted this gorgeous perpetual calendar from lovely French stationer Papier Tigre before Christmas. Well, someone listened! I was given one as a belated birthday gift today. Super-mega chuffed! It needs cutting to size, so I’ll get my new paper-craft tool set out on the weekend and cut it properly, rather than with wonky blunt scissors and my left hand!
Thanks, *you* xxx
Does it for me.

In other Dalton Towers news, we’ve finally got round to re-framing and hanging the loose lips print. I cannibalised the frame it was originally in when I got my every cloud print. It’s really nice to see it up again!
